Guess who's the Graphic Designer behind Blue Fern Studios…

It’s me!

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new papercraft company in town, and it’s called Blue Fern Studios. I am proud to announce that I am the Principal Graphic Designer for Blue Fern!  We’ve started with chipboard designs and will be offering a paper line soon. Other products are also in the works.  Blue Fern Studios is a wholesale company, so you will need to look for products at your favorite scrapbooking store. But there are some giveaways happening so you can get your hands on some of the fantastic chipboard by participating (see info below).

You may have wondered why my blog has not had very many posts the past few months, now you know why! I’ve been drawing chipboard designs on my trusty Mac late into the night. My goal has been to create unique, beautiful designs, and some fun stuff too.

I know you will appreciate the attention to detail I’ve given these designs. If your favorite scrapbooking vendor doesn’t carry Blue Fern Studios products yet, please ask them to!

Sunny

Here's my page for CSI's case file no. 36 using this weeks fab sketch from Once Upon a sketch. I usually scrap digitally, but this time I got messy and had some fun with traditional materials.

Evidence: Use letters, leaves, misting, tone on tone, scattered elements, curved shapes.

Testimony: Journal in the form of a letter: A pull-out tag on the right side has a little letter for my journaling, it says:
May, 2004, Dear Charlotte, How you make me smile with that sunshine-happy face of yours. Do you know what joy you've brought into my life? You make me happier than I've ever been. You charm everyone with that cute face of yours. What a joyful, sweet and fun baby you are. Love, Mommy

Here's the case file:

Join the fun all September log and CSI where we are playing with case files and sketches from Once Upon a Sketch!

Here's the file:

Sometimes you just want to scrap something pretty, and this case file was perfect for that.
Here's my layout: "Still"

Here's the kiddo caught after a crazy jumping on the bed session. She can never sit still for me, but I managed to get this photo.

Evidence: birds, stripes, ribbon
Testimony: use inspiration word relax as a jumping off point

Journaling says:
Captured: delightfully still for just a second after jumping like a monkey on the bed.

Stuff: Rhonna Farrer Kiss Me collection, digital stamps, plus lots of CU stuff, Splendid Finns bakers twine, case file coordinates. Everything altered, grunged up, recolored, twisted and turned.

If you'd like to play this week and need a jumping off point, be sure to check out the coordinates I designed to go with the case file, here's the preview:

Getting Sketchy

I am a creative director/graphic designer for a media company, and I’ve been at it for a long time. I am so fortunate to be able to do what I love for a living.  I also love paper crafting.  Combining both my loves of paper crafting and my vocation, allows me to scrap digitally, design printable scrapbooking elements (coordinates) for CSI, and much more.

So why am I telling you all of this?

Well, here’s the question of the day:

Do you like to work with sketches? My scrappy-pal Joyce likes to start with a sketch. She was looking for some fresh designs, and I told her I would make some for her. So I did; and I’m going to share them with you, too!  Joyce has a romantic, shabby, mixed-media style. She’s an advanced scrapper and true artist that is always experimenting with the latest techniques. I wanted to make sketches that would work well with her style and this made for a fantastic challenge that I thoroughly enjoyed. I’m hooked on making these now, so be on the lookout for sketches here on my blog. Below are a few of my favorites so far. Enjoy!

Testimony: long thin strips, write about labels

Stuff:
Sweet shop constructed from several elements from various kits and stock images:

Poor, neglected blog

It's hard to believe that it's been since the end of April that I have posted to this blog, but let's face the truth. Time to catch up!  This week I have two layouts to share so far; one for each of my favorite challenge sites.

CSI (http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/)
Here's case file number 28:

Here's my layout: Get Silly

This was such a fun case file, and I was lucky enough to dig up a funny photo for it…

Journaling says:
• Get Silly
• squawk, squeak, jump, juggle, rattle, shake, flip, flop, burp. Oh the funny things you do, my sweet, silly girl!
• "Hey, there is no 'off' button on this model"
• Quote from Dr. Seuss: From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.

Evidence: robots, circles, metal, create shadows, tone-on-tone pattern.
Testimony: Document something silly, something related to technology
Stuff:  CSI coordinates, some CU items, plus one stock image.

If you like these images, you can download the printable coordinates I created by following this link: (coordinates are at the end of the post). Here's a preview of what's included:

First time challenge at Colorful Creations

This is my first time playing at Colorful Creations, it was fun! I decided to do the "tic tac toe" challenge. The idea for this challenge is to select a winning combination on the board below. I used the winning combination of "banners, ribbon and stitching" for this layout.

Here's my layout; 16 Weeks

Journaling says:
16 Weeks
Here’s our precious Charlotte at just 16 weeks old. She’s sweet as pie, and look at those cute cheeks! How blessed we all are to finally have such an adorable baby in our lives. She has quickly become our whole world.

Digital items include:
Lorie Davison "Love Stories From The Red Flower Shop "
CU stitching, and one ribbon from Dianne Rigdon designs

the Archers

Well, I never thought I'd scrap a page about an astrological sign, but Thanks to Debbi at CSI for the fantastic idea, now I have!

Here's the case file:

Here's my layout; the Archers

Evidence: circles, stars, branches/leaves (in the background), map (globe), translucent elements.
Testimony: Write about an astrological sign.

Journaling says:
Sagittarius, Ruled by Jupiter, Nov23—Dec21
Our beloved Sagittarians Grandpa was born on December 11th, 1942. Charlotte was born on December 15th, 2003. They share many traits, but most of all they share a deep love
for one another.

Lucky Number : 1 • Lucky Color : Royal Blue • Lucky Flower: Carnation, wallflower, clove-pink Lucky Gemstone: Turquoise, Yellow Sapphire • Lucky Day: Wednesday

A typical Sagittarius has a bright, sunny disposition and an almost incurable sense of optimism regarding the future. They are good-natured, and have an irrepressible sense of fun and inspiring spiritual side. The Sagittarius carries the sense of being in a state of divine grace, at one with the universe. Those born under this sign are characterized by optimism, aspiration, inspiration, enthusiasm and expansiveness.

Stuff:
some items made by me, some CU stuff
Kitschy digitals frame
"Equinox" by by Ildi Geist
"Celestial" by Tumble Fish Studios
"Symphony of Angels" by Eanas Creation

Magic 8

This week I decided to get inspired by a sketch over at creative scrappers. I chose #202, here's the sketch:
Here's my layout; Magic 8

Journaling says:
Magic 8
Who’s this gorgeous 16 year old? What? She’s just turned eight? That’s crazy! No one looks like that when they are only eight years old. It must be the magic of being eight that makes her look so cute. What a great kid Charlotte is. She’s sweet and smart, and so much fun! She loves animals, music, flowers, pretty things, playing video games, and brownies. She’s a neat kid, and loved by everyone. December 2011
